JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have brought back free agent quarterback Todd Bouman with the loss of Luke McCown for the season.

The 38-year-old Bouman is a veteran of 13 NFL seasons and spent time with the Jags last season and for a period from 2007-2008. He joined Baltimore as the team's third quarterback for the entire 2008 season but did not see any game action.

Bouman last saw action in 2005 with New Orleans when he started three games and completed 55.7 percent of his passes for 722 yards and two touchdowns with seven interceptions.

The veteran also started three contests for Minnesota in 2001 and threw for 795 yards and eight TDs with four picks and a 57.3% completion percentage.

In 42 career games with the Saints and Vikings, Bouman has passed for 1,683 yards with 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

McCown suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's loss to San Diego. McCown suffered an identical injury in the same knee in 2006.

Before leaving, he completed 11-of-19 passes for 120 yards in taking over for an ineffective David Garrard.
