ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills first-year coach Chan Gailey announced quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Sunday's game against New England and remain the starting QB going forward, effectively benching the unproductive Trent Edwards.

Edwards started Buffalo's first two games of the season and led the offenCe to a meager 17 total points in losses to Miami and Green Bay. The fourth-year pro completed 11-of-18 passes for just 102 yards with two interceptions in a 34-7 setback at Green Bay in Week 2.

Fitzpatrick filled in as Buffalo's starter last season as Edwards recovered from a concussion. The Harvard product finished with a quarterback rating of 69.7 in 10 games last season, passing for 1,422 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
