PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles will officially start Michael Vick at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Head coach Andy Reid announced early Friday afternoon that both starting quarterback Kevin Kolb and linebacker Stewart Bradley, who suffered concussions in last Sunday's season-opening loss to Green Bay, will not play against Detroit.

Vick will make his first NFL start since Dec. 31, 2006, when he was a member of the Atlanta Falcons.

The 30-year-old Vick came in for an injured Kolb and nearly led the team to a comeback win. He completed 16-of-24 throws for 175 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 103 yards on 11 attempts in a 27-20 defeat.

The Eagles signed Vick to a two-year contract last summer. This all came after Vick missed the 2007 and 2008 seasons while serving an 18-month prison sentence for dogfighting.
