JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have re-signed tight end Ernest Wilford, who was released by the team in their final cuts before the start of the season.
Wilford appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars last season in his second stint with the club. He caught 11 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown.
The Virginia Tech product was selected by the Jaguars as a wide receiver in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. He spent four seasons with Jacksonville before signing as an unrestricted free agent with Miami in 2008, then rejoined the Jaguars as a tight end last year.
In 85 career games, including 44 starts, Wilford has hauled in 155 passes for 2,142 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Jaguars released first-year wide receiver John Matthews to open a roster spot for Wilford.
