EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed Wednesday that tight end Kevin Boss will miss Sunday night's game against the Colts due to a concussion.

Boss suffered a concussion in Sunday's season-opening win over Carolina.

The fourth-year pro took a blow to the head on a pass intended for him early in the first quarter, was carted off the field and did not return. Last season, Boss had 42 catches for 567 yards and five touchdowns.

The team also reported that second-year offensive lineman William Beatty will have surgery Thursday to repair a broken bone in his foot. How much time Beatty will miss will be determined after the surgery.

In other team news, cornerback Aaron Ross, who missed the opener with a plantar fascia injury, will return to practice. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora and linebacker Chase Blackburn will not practice Wednesday, as both are dealing with knee injuries. Receiver Hakeem Nicks will sit out Wednesday's session with an ankle injury.
