NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Long-time NFL centre Kevin Mawae has decided to call it a career.
The NFL Players Association, for which Mawae has served as president since March 2008, said the eight-time Pro Bowl selection will make it official at a Friday afternoon press conference in Nashville.
Mawae spent the past four seasons with Tennessee and also played for Seattle and the New York Jets in a 16-year NFL career. The Titans decided against re-signing the veteran despite a Pro Bowl campaign in 2009.
The 39-year-old LSU product began his NFL career with Seattle in 1994 and played with the Seahawks through the 1997 season. He joined the Jets in 1998 and spent eight years in New York before signing with Tennessee prior to the 2006 campaign.
