GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- The Green Bay Packers have given cornerback Charles Woodson a contract extension.

The extension is for two years and he will be under contract with the Packers through the 2014 season. Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed.

Woodson, who turns 34 in October, is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He has been with the Packers for the past four seasons after spending his first eight years in Oakland with the Raiders.

Last season, he totaled 74 tackles, two sacks, four forced fumbles, 18 passes defenced and nine interceptions, which tied for the NFL lead with three other players. He also scored three touchdowns.

A Heisman Trophy winner with Michigan in 1997, Woodson has totaled 717 tackles, 147 passes defenced, 11 1/2 sacks and 45 interceptions over his career. He has also forced 22 fumbles and has found the end zone nine times over 168 games.

The six-time Pro Bowler holds the Packers' franchise record for defensive touchdowns with eight, seven through interceptions and one on a fumble return.
