New England coach Bill Belichick is a noted film buff, so it will be interesting to hear his critique of the performance of rookie Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes in a just-released YouTube video.

The video, however, is no film noir classic but is of a sexually explicit nature involving Spikes and an unnamed female companion.

While there is no word coming yet from the Pats' camp, there is the possibility that Spikes, a second-round pick out of the University of Florida, could be subject to disciplinary action under the league's personal conduct policy.

"We are looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Boston Herald.

Naturally, the agent for Spikes -- Terry Watson -- moved quickly into damage control as he apologized for his client and called it an "embarrassing situation."

"Brandon is showing himself to be a high-character guy in the Boston community and has the promise of being a very good player," Watson said. "It was something that occurred before he became an NFL draftee and a New England Patriot. I think for anyone it would be an embarrassing situation.

"Brandon has shown to many people the kind of person he is before and after being drafted in the second round. He's hoping to put this behind him and looks forward to having a great football season."

And forget about his on-screen career.
