FOXBORO, MA - The New England Patriots placed starting defensive lineman Ty Warren on season-ending injured reserve Friday.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Warren is suffering from a hip injury that could require surgery.

Warren, the 13th overall pick of the Patriots in the 2003 draft, has spent his entire career in New England, recording 496 tackles and 20 1/2 sacks over 105 games — 92 starts.

Also on Friday, the team reinstated linebacker Derrick Burgess to the active roster. Burgess, who was in the reserve/did not report list, recorded 35 tackles and five sacks in 16 games with the Patriots last season, his first in New England after stints in Philadelphia (2001-04) and Oakland (2005-08).
