Here we go again, another newser regarding disgruntled Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth.
In a statement released Wednesday, Fat Albert declared that heíll attend training camp in August after all. That should be a Sideshow Bob episode.
ďDespite my differences with the Redskins, I have always planned to attend training camp and honour my contract. As I have said, I am continuing to prepare for the season individually and will report on time, in shape and ready to play football,Ē Haynesworth said in his statement.
The Redskins, meanwhile, would like their $21 million US bonus back and want to trade Haynesworth. He has been ripped by teammates and Redskins alumni alike and the other day it was revealed he is being sued by a bank for $2.4 million for failure to make payments on a loan.
The most entertaining update on the Haynesworth saga, however, comes from Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis. When asked about the situation the other day, Lewis rambled on with a lengthy reply to a Washington radio station.
Hereís part of it:
ďWithout even going long-winded, the word is, bottom line, respect. The power of respect is never to disrespect. Thatís it. Just donít ever disrespect the game, because the game will be here, always. Always. All of our time has to pass, and bro, I donít speak down on him at all. I would love to have a conversation with him, to say to (whom) much is given much is required, brother.
ďSometimes you got to do things you ainít want to do to get something you ainít never got. So be OK with it. But you canít always win selfishly. If you always win selfishly, then I donít know what the walk of Jesus ever represented then.
ďYouíre not winning. Youíre not winning. And thatís the things that I would relate to him. Going back to answer the question, if I was one of the spokesmen or leaders on that team, I would say bro, look, I understand you. But look, letís work this out another way. Letís get pissed of at somebody that we gotta deal with for 16 weeks.Ē
Got that Albert?
