DOES BRADY KNOW CALF-ROPING?

Through two games, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has thrown just 12 incompletions, giving him a league-best 79.7 completion percentage.

Of those misses, three came when Brady was throwing the ball away, three more on drops and another when the intended receiver fell.

"I don't ever worry about (Brady's completion rate)," Patriots left tackle Matt Light said. "It's not his first rodeo."

SLEEPY TIME

The San Diego Chargers are the only NFL team that hasn't scored in the first half of a game this season.

Last season, they scored in every first half and led the league with 224 first-half points.

YOUNG AND RESTLESS

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was fined $7,500 for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in last week's 22-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Young, who is getting a reputation for chirping at his opponents, was fingered for tossing the football at Indianapolis defensive back Kelvin Hayden.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Browns safety Brodney Pool was fined $5,000 by the NFL for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cincinnati Bengals' receiver Glenn Holt last week.

THAT WAS THEN

Five teams that made the playoffs last season are limping out of the gate at 0-2.

The highest profile of that group, of course, is the NFC finalist New Orleans Saints who are joined by the miserable New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs as well as the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

"In this league, whenever you start 0-2, people on the street think you are doomed," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said.

QUICK HITS

The Saints are one of only two teams, along with the Jets, that have not recorded a sack ... Despite reverse records (the Eagles are 2-0, the Lions 0-2) there's a reason Philadelphia is a touchdown favourite -- Detroit hasn't beat the Eagles since 1986.
