Former Virginia Tech star quarterback Michael Vick reacted in horror to the shootings at his alma mater that left 33 dead on Monday.

The current Atlanta Falcons pivot, who played three seasons for the Hokies from 1998 to 2001, called the tragedy a "senseless and unfortunate ordeal" in a statement released by the NFL club, adding "my thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones involved in this terrible tragedy.

"It is my hope that the university community can pull together to help the students cope with this senseless and unfortunate ordeal."

In the same statement, teammate DeAngelo Hall, who was also a Hokie from 2001 to 2003, said "words can't describe how sad I am right now. Everyone who knows me understands the affinity I have for Virginia Tech."
