Steve Coad's NFL picks

, Last Updated: 7:52 AM ET

Houston (3-7) at New York Jets (5-5)

The line: Jets by 6

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Two weeks ago, the Jets flew over the Pats. Last week, they gave the ferocious Bears all they could handle in a 10-0 loss. The Texans may seem like a piece of cake.

Cody's call: Jets 24-21

Arizona (2-8) at Minnesota (4-6)

The line: Vikings by 6

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Cardinals have a one-game win streak going. The Vikings have dropped four in a row. Minnie, at home, will prevail.

Cody's call: Vikings 21-14

New Orleans (6-4) at Atlanta (5-5)

The line: Falcons by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. After a 5-1 start, the Saints are marching a lot more slowly these days. Still, Atlanta's D is shorthanded and New Orleans is tough on the road.

Cody's call: Saints 27-23

Carolina (6-4) at Washington (3-7)

The line: Panthers by 4

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Panthers, who have won two in a row, are finally living up to people's lofty expectations. The Redskins are unlikely to get in their way.

Cody's call: Panthers 23-14

Pittsburgh (4-6) at Baltimore (8-2)

The line: Ravens by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. It's down to do-or-die for the defending champion Steelers. Expect all-out war.

Cody's call: Steelers 20-19

San Francisco (5-5) at St. Louis (4-6)

The line: Rams by 5 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Rams should not be looking up at the 49ers in the NFC West standings, but that's what five straight losses will do for you. It's time the Rams got, uh, rammy.

Cody's call: Rams 30-24

Jacksonville (5-4) at Buffalo (4-6)

The line: Jaguars by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. J.P. Losman's TD toss to Peerless Price with 15 seconds left lifted the Bills over the Texans. It was a huge win for Buffalo as a franchise and a great big deal for Losman personally. The question is: Will it carry over?

Cody's call: Jags 20-13

Cincinnati (6-5) at Cleveland (3-7)

The line: Bengals by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Bengals bounced the Brownies 34-17 in Week 2. Don't think they'll bungle this one, either.

Cody's call: Bengals 23-17

Oakland (2-8) at San Diego (8-2)

The line: Chargers by 13

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. It's class war -- classy LaDainian Tomlinson vs. classless Randy Moss. Tomlinson has never been better and the Chargers haven't been this good in years.

Cody's call: Chargers 28-13

N.Y. Giants (6-3) at Tennessee (3-7)

The line: Giants by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. The injury bug has taken a big bite out of the Giants' defence and the Titans are coming off a 31-13 win over the Eagles. Eli Manning needs to deliver for the New Yorkers -- and he's capable.

Cody's call: Giants 24-20

Chicago (9-1) at New England (7-3)

The line: Patriots by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. The Bears' D gets -- and deserves -- tons of credit. After all, Chicago has surrendered a league-low 120 points this season. But, hey, the Pats doing just fine in this department, too, having allowed just 131 points, third-fewest. Tom Brady gives the Pats the edge.

Cody's call: Patriots 21-17

Philadelphia (5-5) at Indianapolis (9-1)

The line: Colts by 9

The skinny: Sunday, 8:15 p.m. (TSN). The Eagles have been grounded. Losing QB Donovan McNabb for the season is the last straw in a disappointing season.

Cody's call: Colts 27-17

Green Bay (4-6) at Seattle (6-4)

The line: Seahawks by 9 1/2

The skinny: Monday, 8:30 p.m. (TSN, NBC). Despite injuring his elbow against New England, the Packers' Brett Favre is expected to make his record 252nd straight start at quarterback. More good news: Matt Hasselbeck could be back at the Seahawks' rudder after missing several weeks.

Cody's call: Seahawks 27-20
