Cracking the Coad

STEVE COAD -- London Free Press

, Last Updated: 7:43 AM ET

Dallas (1-1) at Tennessee (0-3)

The line: Cowboys by 9 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Regardless of the Terrell Owens situation, or any other distractions, the Cowboys will be expected to focus and put away the Titans.

Cody's call: Cowboys 20-14

Miami (1-2) at Houston (0-3)

The line: Dolphins by 4

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Perhaps the Texans, whose defence is a disaster that spends far too much time on the field, will be just what Daunte Culpepper needs to shake off his sorry start.

Cody's call: Dolphins 23-17

Arizona (1-2) at Atlanta (2-1)

The line: Cardinals by 7 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Both quarterbacks -- Kurt Warner of the Cardinals and Mike Vick of the Falcons -- are coming off duds. Vick's chances of recovery are better.

Cody's call: Falcons 21-17

Indianapolis (3-0) at N.Y. Jets (2-1)

The line: Colts by 9

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Give the Jets their due for a fast takeoff to the season, but don't expect them to soar against the Colts.

Cody's call: Colts 36-21

Minnesota (2-1) at Buffalo (1-2)

The line: Bills by 1

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Vikings almost biffed da Bears last week. The Bills, despite career games by Willis McGahee (150 yards rushing) and J.P. Losman (328 yards passing), were put away by the Jets. I like the Vikes, who are 1-0 on the road this season.

Cody's call: Vikings 21-14

San Diego (2-0) at Baltimore (3-0)

The line: Chargers by 2 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. It's early, of course, but the Chargers appear to be an elite team. It will be interesting to see how young QB Philip Rivers handles Baltimore's ferocious defence.

Cody's call: Chargers 24-21

San Francisco (1-2) at Kansas City (0-2)

The line: Chiefs by 7

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. K.C. won't have Trent Green (concussion), meaning Damon Huard will start at quarterback. Still, the Chiefs are serious home bodies.

Cody's call: Chiefs 27-21

New Orleans (3-0) at Carolina (1-2)

The line: 8 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Saints are coming off the greatest game in their 40-year history. That's a tough act to follow.

Cody's call: Panthers 21-17

Detroit (0-3) at St. Louis (2-1)

The line: Rams 5 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. The Lions have scored half as many points as their opponents this season. Teams that can't finish can't win.

Cody's call: Rams 24-17

Jacksonville (2-1) at Washington (1-2)

The line: Jaguars by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. If 'Skins QB Mark Brunell picks up where he left off last week (24 of 27 for 261 yards), this could be a good one.

Cody's call: Jaguars 16-13

Cleveland (0-3) at Oakland (0-2)

The line: Browns by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. After coming within a final-minute, 52-yard field goal of knocking off the Ravens, the Browns are due.

Cody's call: Browns 20-14

New England (2-1) at Cincinnati (3-0)

The line: Bengals by 6

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. Cinci's D isn't up to Denver's, but it's good enough to frustrate Tom Brady the way the Broncos did last Sunday.

Cody's call: Bengals 21-17

Chicago (3-0) at Seattle (3-0)

The line: Bears by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 8:15 p.m. Shaun Alexander is injured (foot), severely diminishing the Seahawks' chances.

Cody's call: Bears 23-20

Green Bay (1-2) at Philadelphia (2-1)

The line: Eagles by 11

The skinny: Monday, 8:30 p.m. (TSN, NBC). We're not sure if the Eagles can stop Brett Favre, but we are sure the Packers can't stop Donovan McNabb.

Cody's call: Eagles 30-21

Season record

Straight up: Last week: 9-5; overall: 29-17 Spread: Last week: 10-4; overall: 21-24
