Cracking the Coad

STEVE COAD -- London Free Press

, Last Updated: 7:37 AM ET

Chicago (2-0) at Minnesota (2-0)

The line: Bears by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Viking defenders are falling like flies. Already, three have been lost for the season.

Cody's call: Bears 21-13

Green Bay (0-2) at Detroit (0-2)

The line: Lions by 6 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Packers just aren't very good. The Lions are lifeless. There's a big difference.

Cody's call: Packers 24-14

Tennessee (0-2) at Miami (0-2)

The line: Dolphins by 11

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. It's just the matchup to get Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper back in the good graces of the fans.

Cody's call: Dolphins 20-10

N.Y. Jets (1-1) at Buffalo (1-1)

The line: Bills by 6

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. While it's surprising that either of these titans -- let alone both -- has a win, put your money on the Bills.

Cody's call: Bills 20-13

Washington (0-2) at Houston (0-2)

The line: Redskins by 4

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. With Domanick Davis out for the season, the Texans' decision not to take Reggie Bush with the No. 1 overall pick is looking, well, even more bush.

Cody's call: Redskins 27-13

Cincinnati (2-0) at Pittsburgh (1-1)

The line: Steelers by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. This one will be a smash-mouth, belligerent battle, featuring the Steelers' stellar D against Carson Palmer and his associates, Rudi and Chad.

Cody's call: Steelers 14-13

Jacksonville (2-0) at Indianapolis (2-0)

The line: Colts by 9 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. The Colts have scored 69 points in roughing up the Texans and Giants, but Indy's defence is questionable and they've yet to run into a D this season like the Jags.

Cody's call: Jags 23-21

Carolina (0-2) at Tampa Bay (0-2)

The line: Panthers by 3

The skinny: Sunday, 1 p.m. Steve Smith must be even better than we thought. Without him, the Panthers are patsies.

Cody's call: Panthers 23-17

Baltimore (2-0) at Cleveland (0-2)

The line: Ravens by 6 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. The Ravens still have to play the Steelers and Bengals twice, plus the Broncos and Panthers, so this would be a good one to win.

Cody's call: Ravens 24-12

N.Y. Giants (1-1) at Seattle (2-0)

The line: Seahawks by 3 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. The Seahawks have two wins despite scoring just 30 points. The Giants will force them to open things up.

Cody's call: Seahawks 27-21

St. Louis (1-1) at Arizona (1-1)

The line: Cardinals by 4 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. Rams rusher Steven Jackson has had back-to-back 100-yard-plus running (121 and 103), but he'll have trouble outshining Cardinals counterpart Edgerrin James.

Cody's call: Cardinals 20-17

Philadelphia (1-1) at San Francisco (1-1)

The line: Eagles by 6

The skinny: Sunday, 4:15 p.m. While the Eagles likely have enough to fly high against the 49ers regardless, Jevon Kearse's season-ending knee injury is a crushing blow.

Cody's call: Eagles 23-20

Denver (1-1) at New England (2-0)

The line: Patriots by 6 1/2

The skinny: Sunday, 8:30 p.m. The Pats' narrow wins have come against the Bills and Jets, hardly tough tests. This game will be more indicative of where they're at.

Cody's call: Broncos 24-21

Atlanta (2-0) at New Orleans (2-0)

The line: Falcons by 3

The skinny: Monday, 8:30 p.m. (NBC, TSN). The Saints finally get to go home. Trouble with that is they seldom win there.

Cody's call: Falcons 30-13
