Is it curtains in Steeltown?

Coming off back-to-back losses, the Pittsburgh Steelers could use a break. They won't get it tomorrow, however, when they play host to the Cincinnati Bengals in a game they need to win if they hope to win the AFC North.

"They're probably writing us off," Steelers linebacker Larry Foote said after Monday's 19-point loss to the Colts. "If I was a reporter, I would, too."

The Steelers, 15-1 in 2005, could fall to 7-5 should they lose and be forced into a tough wild-card race.

THE BEAR FACTS

Even with the Chicago Bears' two-game lead in the NFC North, there is grumbling about QB Kyle Orton.

With Rex Grossman finally healthy after fracturing his left ankle in August, fans are getting antsy for a switch. For now, at least, the Bears coaching staff isn't biting.

"He's getting better every day." offensive coordinator Ron Turner said of Grossman. "But as of right now I would say no change."

QUICK KICKS

Colts placekicker Mike Vanderjagt missed practice this week with a right calf/groin injury, but is listed as probable for tomorrow's game against the Titans ... Raiders coach Norv Turner is just 1-9 against AFC West opponents in his two seasons in Oakland ... The Eagles' streak of five consecutive playoff appearances, the longest active run in the NFL, is in danger of ending.
