NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (2-1)

Rumours of their demise were premature. As long as they have Tom Brady, they will compete. The challenge is how the defence responds to the loss of star Rodney Harrison.

CINCINNATI BENGALS (3-0)

Yes it's only three weeks and yes they've yet to beat a recognized league power. But what's not to love about these guys? Apparently, quarterback Carson Palmer is the real deal.

MIAMI DOLPHINS (2-1)

What a difference a coach and a quarterback can make. Nick Saban is making an immediate impact despite the mess left by Dave Wannstadt and at QB, Gus Frerotte is a reliable upgrade.

BUFFALO BILLS (1-2)

The loss for the remainder of the season of LB Takeo Spikes could be a crippling blow for a defence that has struggled. As for the offence, what do all you Bledsoe bashers think of his replacement, J.P. Losman?

NFC NORTH

Four teams and just three wins between them. And somebody in this bunch gets to go to the playoffs.

ARIZONA CARDINALS (0-3)

High hopes in the desert seem to be dashed as the Cardinals seem to be in the midst another woeful season. The Cards join the Packers as the only 0-3 teams in the NFL.
