From undrafted rookie free agent to the Super Bowl is quite a ride for Toronto native Mike Labinjo.

But his position coach with the Philadelphia Eagles believes it is just the beginning.

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

"He has been a great find for our personnel department," linebackers coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "He has been a pleasant surprise."

Spagnuolo said he believes Labinjo has a bright future in the league. The coach said the St. Mike's grad showed as much in the two regular-season games in which he played regularly in the middle linebacker spot.

"I've told Michael I'd be very disappointed if he didn't make a name for himself next year.

"He's very athletic and a quick learner and you can see the improvement he has made fairly quickly."

Labinjo is listed as No. 2 at the middle linebacker position on the Philadelphia depth chart but is expected to see regular special teams duty Sunday against the New England Patriots.
