Holmes out for Chiefs-Saints game

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- NFL rushing and scoring leader Priest Holmes was out for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints because of a knee injury and replaced by Derrick Blaylock.

Holmes, the Kansas City Chiefs' star running back, was on crutches this week after straining the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during last week's loss to Tampa Bay. He had been listed as doubtful. On Sunday, Holmes was walking without the crutches, but Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil decided not to play him.

Blaylock was out last week with a bruised thigh but practised at full speed for the first time since Nov. 10. When Holmes left early in the third quarter against Atlanta on Oct. 24, Blaylock came in and ran for four touchdowns.
