The New England Patriots are all for making history, but only the kind that comes at the end of the season.

"We don't care about a record, we're just trying to win a game," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said yesterday after his Super Bowl champions defeated the Buffalo Bills 31-17 to match an NFL record for 18 consecutive wins.

This is a team that only looks to the big picture.

"It sounds boring and simple but we focus on one game at a time," Pats linebacker Tedy Bruschi said.

The Patriots will attempt to set the record they share with six other teams when they meet the winless Miami Dolphins next week in Foxborough, Mass.

"The team is 3-0, but like the coach says, we're looking forward, not looking backwards," said quarterback Tom Brady.

"If you ever look back, people are going to track you down and beat you all over and you are going to feel like crap."
