An NCAA wide receiver is facing an aggravated assault charge after surveillance video captured him sucker punching a man outside an Ann Arbor, Mich., bar July 18.

The victim, who appeared to be looking the other way when Michigan’s Csont’e York knocked him unconscious, suffered a broken jaw in the incident.

MLive.com obtained the video under the Freedom of Information Act and reported Tuesday that York and a teammate were involved in a confrontation before the alleged assault took place.

York, who wasn’t intoxicated, and his companion later told the police the victim bumped into them, according to MLive.com.

“He was (so) close to me that he elbowed me as he walked by,” York told police.

York said that started a brief confrontation between two groups of friends that led to him coldcocking the 23-year-old victim, who he thought played for Michigan’s hockey team.

MLive.com reported that police confirmed one of the men at the scene was a former Michigan hockey player who now plays in the NHL.

Michigan's football team announced earlier this month that York had been suspended for “failing to meet team standards.”

York is set to be charged Aug. 22.
