Season's final week has big-time bowl implications

Let’s go bowling!

 

OK, so it’s not quite bowl season. But these conference championship games have all the hype of big bowl games.

So it’s kind of like bowl season — and there’s certainly bowl implications on the line here.

SEC Championship Game: No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (in Atlanta) — No doubt everybody in South Bend and Georgia is believing in the Bulldogs. But truth is, the Crimson Tide have suffered their one stunning loss this season. Sorry, ’Damers and ’Dawgs — ’Bama head coach Nick Saban won’t let complacency set in again. So here’s two familiar words — Tide roll.

Pac-12 Championship Game: No. 16 UCLA Bruins at No. 8 Stanford

Cardinal — Weird not see the

No. 5 Oregon Ducks in this game, but blame that on Stanford. Even more weird is seeing UCLA and Stanford play twice against each other in six days. Again, blame that on Stanford. Winner goes to the Rose Bowl to play the Big Ten champion, where you ca
