Police said Tuesday that two arrests have been made in connection with the shootings of three Southern Mississippi football players over the weekend.

Three warrants for aggravated assault have also been issued for the suspect in the shootings, who was identified by police Sgt. Allen Murray as Travis Brown.

Murray said anyone who aids Brown will also face charges.

The suspects arrested Monday night were Patricia L. Brown and Cleothus Wilkerson, both of nearby Bassfield. They face three charges apiece of accessories after the fact for aggravated assault.

Linebackers Martez Smith and Tim Green and defensive end Deddrick Jones were injured in the off-campus shootings early Sunday morning, which followed an incident at a Hattiesburg nightclub.

All three were listed in fair condition at a local hospital.

The shootings occurred just before 2 a.m. (ct) on Sunday after the team returned from a road win over Central Florida. Police noted that none of the injured players were armed.

Smith, a senior, is out for the season with a knee injury, while Green and Jones are both juniors and played in the win over UCF.
