If the Bombers want to give their pass rush a bit of a boost, the answer may have been released by the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The Panthers cut defensive end Alex Hall, who is now a CFL free agent. He spent most of two seasons with the Bombers, registering 24 sacks in 28 games, before getting traded last October to the Roughriders with a draft pick for Canadian offensive lineman Paddy Neufeld and a draft pick.

The Bombers, according to sources, were interested in signing Hall when he became a CFL free agent in February, but he was waiting for another NFL chance and got it in April when the Panthers came calling.

Winnipeg general manager Kyle Walters refused to comment Sunday when asked about his team's potential interest in Hall, who is 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds. There is also a chance Hall will wait a while to see if other NFL teams want to give him a shot.
