Are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for real?

Quarterback Drew Willy isn’t sure the rest of the country is taking his team seriously, despite its 5-1 record and standing atop the CFL’s competitive West Division.

“It’s tough to say,” Willy said today as the Bombers prepared to host the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Thursday. “We didn’t play well against Edmonton, but we’ve got five wins. Sometimes they’re going to come in crazy ways, like some of them have. We hope we gain people’s respect.

“If not, we just need to keep proving it until we do have their respect. It might never come.”

Winnipeg is coming off a last-play victory in Hamilton, the second time this season it’s pulled two points out of the fire with a late rally.

Saskatchewan, meanwhile, is coming off 37-9 and 38-14 wins over Toronto and Ottawa, respectively, improving to 3-2 after a sluggish start.
