For the time being, Lirim Hajrullahu is simply doing what he can to put his best foot forward.

But make no mistake, somewhere down the road Hajrullahu would love to handle all of the kicking chores for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on a full-time basis.

So with punter Mike Renaud on the shelf for “several weeks” with a hamstring injury, the rookie is welcoming the opportunity to handle field goals, kickoffs and punts with open arms.

“To be a Canadian and to be able to punt is a big thing and I’m just trying to work towards that,” said Hajrullahu, who was signed as a free agent by the Blue Bombers. “Of course, I want to be able to do them all. This is one step closer (to realizing that goal). I’m going to keep working and I’m always prepared for situations like what happened this week.”

Pressed into triple duty on Thursday after Renaud came up lame during the warm-up, Hajrullahu looked comfortable doing all three jobs during the 26-3 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos.
