WINNIPEG - Never mind the fairy-tale ending — Donovan Alexander is still waiting for the storybook beginning.
The St. Paul’s High School product was hurt early in training camp and has yet to suit up for his hometown Blue Bombers.
That chance may come this Friday when the Bombers hit the road for the first time, in Montreal.Follow @SlamSports
In the meantime, Alexander has taken some satisfaction in seeing his city begin to open its arms to its football team again.
After two years fans would rather forget, the Bombers are turning heads after two straight wins to kick off 2014.
“It was so nice to see the two wins here in Winnipeg, and see the fans gradually start to come, more and more, and really get into it,” Alexander said. “Because I’m sure they weren’t sure what they were going to see this year. It was really nice to see that from Winnipeg. But it was tough not to be on the field and be part of it.”
