WINNIPEG - The Korey Banks drama has taken another turn.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers placed the veteran linebacker/defensive back on the suspended list on Monday, just a day after Banks asked for his release from the team.

Banks was acquired from the B.C. Lions during the off-season and was expected to provide leadership and bring his winning pedigree to the Blue Bombers' defence.

However, Banks (who received a $60,000 signing bonus after the Blue Bombers signed him to a new deal) was scratched for the season opener against the Toronto Argonauts and was obviously unhappy about his role on the team.

The Blue Bombers are back in action on Thursday against the Ottawa RedBlacks.
