WINNIPEG - CFL sources say the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are looking to trade linebacker Korey Banks, just five months after acquiring him in a trade with the B.C. Lions.

The strong-side linebacker didn’t play in Thursday’s season-opening win over Toronto due to a bad back, although eyebrows were raised when TSN colour commentator Glen Suitor reported on Twitter before the game that Banks was actually a healthy scratch.

Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea refuted Suitor’s report after the game.

“Glen Suitor is wrong,” O’Shea said.

Banks was acquired from the Lions for Canadian receiver Kito Poblah, who made B.C.’s 46-man roster to start the season. General manager Kyle Walters said at the time a big reason why the Bombers acquired the 34-year-old was for leadership, which was desperately lacking in Winnipeg’s locker-room over the last few seasons.
