WINNIPEG - There’s a right way and a wrong way for an up-and-coming quarterback to take over the leadership reins of his new team.

One way is to swagger into the locker-room and make it clear you’re the new sheriff in town.

Veteran O-lineman Glenn January would not approve of such behaviour, though.

And that’s why January likes what he sees in first-year Blue Bomber Drew Willy, through a week of training camp and his first pre-season game in blue and gold.

“He’s doing a good job making strides in that department,” January said of Willy, the leader. Any time you have a quarterback that it’s his first opportunity to be at the head of a team, I’d rather have a guy that comes in and tests the water and slowly builds up than a guy that comes in with a fake attitude and an attitude that it’s his team.
