Drew Willy, left with Max Hall, is not a rookie, but it will be an important pre-training camp for the new Bombers quarterback.

Even if there’s a labour stoppage that causes a delay in the start of training camp, Drew Willy isn’t going to stop getting ready for his first CFL season as a starting quarterback.

The Bombers pivot said he will gather as many teammates as he can, find a plot of land somewhere in Winnipeg and continue preparations for the 2014 season.

“If there was something to happen, I’d make sure we were getting the guys together in Winnipeg, making sure we were getting our work in,” Willy said today at Investors Group Field. “Obviously not in the building, but somewhere around Winnipeg (we would be) getting our work in.”

Willy and the rest of the Bomber quarterbacks will hit the field at Investors Group Field tonight along with 40 or so first-year CFLers for the start of the team’s three-day rookie camp. The league’s collective bargaining agreement expires tomorrow at 10:59 p.m., so Willy isn’t sure if he’ll be able to take part in Friday’s practice. He’ll cross that bridge if
