There’s still two weeks to go before the CFL college draft, and already somebody’s trying to take advantage of rookie Blue Bombers GM Kyle Walters.

Walters, in a meeting with the media, Tuesday, wouldn’t say which rival GM is trying to take him to the cleaners in a trade.

But he says the offer the guy made for the Bombers’ first-round draft pick, the second choice overall, was an insult.

“Half the teams have called, but it’s hard to quantify the seriousness of it,” Walters said, describing the interest around the league. “One team put something together, it was almost laughable to be honest with you. And then a whole lot of, ‘Would you be interested in (trading)?’ And the response was, ‘Well, sure. It depends what you have.’

“And the one serious one was not even worth responding to.”

It’s no surprise the CFL’s dog-eat-dog GM’s would test Walters’ mettle.
