BRADENTON, FLA. - Nic Grigsby is a pretty good running back for a guy who loves to patrol centre field.

The former University of Arizona Wildcats tailback has recently bounced between baseball and football like he bounced between defenders during Bombers mini-camp over the last three days at IMG Academy.

Grigsby’s performance this week confirmed Winnipeg’s decision to sign him earlier this month, and it looks like he’ll get a chance to battle incumbent Will Ford for the starting tailback spot at main camp in June.

Grigsby’s path to IMG Academy this week was a long and winding road. No NFL team drafted him after his solid career with the Wildcats, but he signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2011. He ended up signing in Oakland, Tampa and Green Bay before deciding to go back to baseball.
