WINNIPEG - The CFL has fined two of its players for tweets they posted earlier this week in regards to openly gay U.S. college football player Michael Sam.

One of those players is Bombers all-star defensive tackle Bryant Turner. The other is Montreal Alouettes slotback Arland Bruce III.

On Sunday night, Michael Sam revealed through the U.S. media that he was gay. The University of Missouri linebacker will be entering the NFL draft this year, and he would become the NFL’s first openly gay player if he suits up this season.

Twitter was abuzz with activity following Sam’s announcement, and Turner was one who made a comment.

“Michael Sam locker room gonna come with complimentary robes,” Turner wrote.

He deleted his tweet shortly thereafter, but then retweeted a few other posts on Monday, including this one from @Coach__Pierce: “Ppl would rather stand for being ‘politically correct’ than stand on the principles of the The Holy Bible.”
