OTTAWA -- When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers lock up quarterback Drew Willy next week, don't look at it as Plan C. It's actually somewhere between Plan A and Plan B-and-a-half.

Did the Bombers want Henry Burris to be their starting quarterback in 2014? You bet. Are they angry, confused and heartbroken that Burris signed with the Ottawa RedBlacks -- an expansion team, for crying out loud! -- on Tuesday? Absolutely. Were they willing to fork over somewhere in the neighbourhood of $350,000 a year for Burris? Yes, they were.

The RedBlacks came flying in and fired somewhere in the neighbourhood of $1.4 million at Burris for three years, and the Bombers were bridesmaids once again.
