WINNIPEG - The Bombers are in a holding pattern when it comes to landing a new quarterback or two.

The thinking was there would be a flurry of activity once the CFL season came to a conclusion on Nov. 24 in Regina, but not much has happened at all and nothing significant will occur until next week at the earliest.

There are a variety of reasons for that.

For starters, the CFL is currently under a roster freeze leading up to Monday’s Ottawa Redblacks expansion draft. Teams had to submit their protected lists to the league by Monday, and the freeze went into effect at that point.

The main reason for the Winnipeg quarterback holdup, however, is the main target of its affection, Toronto backup Zach Collaros, is going to test the NFL waters or, if that doesn’t pan out, likely wait until CFL free agency begins in mid-February to find the best situation and the biggest payday.
