WINNIPEG - Even though his next career move will take him to the home of a rival, you won’t have to question Pierre-Luc Labbe’s allegiances.

“I’ll keep wearing the Blue and Gold and keep cheering for Winnipeg even if I’m in Regina,” said Labbe.

Labbe announced his retirement from the CFL on Monday after a six-year career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He will head to Regina in early 2014 to begin training for his new career as a RCMP officer.

He began going through the process of applying to the RCMP last year and was forced to make a decision on his future when he was accepted last week.

“We all know that you can’t play football forever,” said Labbe. “I got that phone call last week and just decided that for me, it was the right time to do it.
