If I was forced, today, to make a prediction about the Blue Bombers’ new hierarchy, I’d say Kyle Walters will be the GM.

And if CFL rumblings are to be believed, Khari Jones could be the next head coach.

If neither one of those potential moves spark a stampede to the box office, I can’t say I’d blame fans for being skeptical.

What this franchise needs is bigger and bolder than that. It needs to make a splash, get a proven winner for at least one of the two positions, if not both.

But Walters and Jones?

Let’s begin with Walters, whom CEO Wade Miller has already promised will be part of the new front office.

No argument here. Walters seems bright and hardworking, and knows the Canadian college scene like the back of his hand.

But just 11 months ago, he was an assistant coach in charge of a mediocre special teams unit, promoted to assistant GM because then-GM Joe Mack felt the pressure to do something to improve his Canadian talent.
