WINNIPEG - So here it is, yet another chance for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to prove they are more than a one-hit wonder.

Sorry to keep beating you over the head with this statistic, but there is absolutely no reason — and I mean none at all — to get excited about Monday’s 34-27 win over the Montreal Alouettes unless the Bombers can follow it up with another victory.

To this point of the season Winnipeg has been, to borrow an oft-used old but completely fitting phrase, a blind squirrel that has found three nuts. The Bombers have won three one-offs. Big deal. It means they got hot for three hours or simply got sick of losing. Any team can do that once every six weeks.

Here’s one of the first things Ticats head coach Kent Austin said to his team after it swept the Argonauts on Monday in Guelph.

“Great teams string football games together,” Austin told reporters. “They don’t have one good game, then off a week, then another good game.”

He could not be more correct in his assessment.
