WINNIPEG - The elephant in the locker-room is gone. He’s been shipped off to B.C.

Now the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have no choice but to see what they have at quarterback.

It was probably going to be that way for the rest of the 2013 season anyway, but trading Buck Pierce to the Lions means there is no veteran a few stalls down. There is no possibility that the new offensive co-ordinator, Marcel Bellefeuille, wants to show what his playbook can do with an established pivot at the controls.

The Bombers will move forward — for this week, at least — with Justin Goltz, Max Hall, Jason Boltus and Levi Brown — as the four members of their quarterback stable. They have six career CFL starts among them and a grand total of one victory.

The Bombers still need to find a more veteran quarterback this upcoming off-season, but the next eight games will give the aforementioned quartet a chance to show they belong, regardless of who’s in charge in 2014.
