WINNIPEG - One word went through Sandro DeAngelis’ mind when Mike Renaud punted the ball into the end zone with 28 seconds remaining in the Banjo Bowl, giving the Bombers a 24-22 lead.

“Awesome!” DeAngelis said Friday.

He was the Riders placekicker at the time, so he knew, thanks to the good field position after the rouge, there would be enough time to get into field goal range.

“That’s the stuff dreams are made of for kickers,” DeAngelis said. “You want that chance to win the big game when the crowd’s its rowdiest.”

Drew Willy was in at quarterback for the Riders because Darian Durant got hurt in the first quarter. Kory Sheets took a 10-yard pass, Brooks Foster hauled in a 20-yard toss, and then Willy ran 13 yards. There were four seconds left on the clock, and DeAngelis was staring at a 40-yard attempt into a stiff breeze that was also blowing hard from left to right.
