WINNIPEG - The Bomber-Roughrider rivalry has reached the top levels of government in the rival Prairie provinces.

Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall started the battle on Friday when he released a video of himself playing the banjo in his office, in honour of Sunday’s 10th annual Banjo Bowl.

“Oh, hi. I was just playing the banjo,” Wall began in the 19-second video. “You know, it’s funny. I practise a lot. It turns out I’m just not very good at it. Kind of like the Bombers … at football.”

Manitoba premier Greg Selinger wasn’t about to take that sitting down, so he fired off a Tweet at Mr. Wall that poked fun at Saskatchewan’s 2009 Grey Cup loss.
