WINNIPEG - Aaron Rouse was here, and then he was gone.
Just 24 hours after the Bombers announced the former NFLer’s signing, Rouse was headed back to the U.S. to entertain NFL interests. He practised on Thursday, and that was it.
“He has some interest from some NFL teams, and that was the agreement we made with him,” Bombers head coach Tim Burke said after Friday’s practice in the muggy heat at Investors Group Field. “When he came up, we would allow him to pursue those. Hopefully we’ll get him back soon. That’s the nature of the CFL.”
Rouse appeared in 41 NFL games for the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants between 2007 and 2009, and Burke said he will return to the Bombers if his NFL aspirations don’t work out.
