WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed another aging player with an NFL pedigree.

Defensive back Aaron Rouse, 29, played four seasons with Green Bay and the New York Giants, starting 18 games and recording four interceptions between 2007 and 2009.

A third-round draft pick of the Packers, Rouse (6-foot-4, 227 pounds) returned one of his interceptions 99 yards for a touchdown and was named defensive player of the week.

He wound up in the UFL in 2010 and 2011, earning MVP honours in that league’s 2011 title game by intercepting three passes for the Virginia Destroyers.

Rouse, who worked out at safety in his first practice Thursday, joins receiver Mike Sims-Walker as veteran NFL castoffs to join the Bombers mid-season.

Sims-Walker has yet to play.
