WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have fired offensive co-ordinator Gary Crowton in a move that should surprise absolutely no one.

Former Ticats head coach Marcel Bellefeuille, who was added to the coaching staff last weekend but didn’t get a title, will run the Winnipeg offence for the rest of the season.

The writing was on the wall for Crowton after Friday’s 37-18 loss to Hamilton when head coach Tim Burke wouldn’t guarantee that Crowton would still be employed on Saturday when the Bombers (1-6) visit the Ticats.

“No one in our organization is happy with the way we have performed so far this season,” Burke said in a press release. “Our offence has not played up to their standards, and we need to make this change in order to give us a chance at remaining in the hunt for the post-season. I wish Gary all the best in his future endeavours.”

Crowton is just the latest member of the Joe Mack regime to get his walking papers.
