WINNIPEG - You’ve got to hand it to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

When they dig themselves into a hole, they use an excavator and go deep.

The current state of this team is such that you look at the light, way up there, and you wonder where to begin.

The Canadian talent isn’t good enough, and hasn’t been for more than two decades.

There is still no franchise quarterback, not even a hint of one in sight.

The head coach is a likable, straight-shooting, yet green-as-grass defensive co-ordinator in his first full season manning the sidelines. And his most important assistant, the one in charge of the offence, is even greener when it comes to the Canadian game.

The general manager, since taking over in 2010, has produced like somebody who hadn’t worked in the CFL for 23 years when a couple of old pals from Winnipeg offered him the job.
