Buck Pierce isn’t the only Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback hurting these days.

Head coach Tim Burke revealed Tuesday afternoon that Justin Goltz, who made his first career start last Friday’s 37-24 loss to Calgary, has an ankle injury and is questionable for Monday’s game in B.C. against the Lions.

Goltz got the start in place of Pierce, the No. 1 pivot, who is still out with an abdominal injury, according to Burke.

“Who knows?” Burke said. “You might be seeing Max Hall this week.”

In other injury news, cornerback Jovon Johnson is doubtful with a hamstring injury, while nickelback Demond Washington is questionable. The good news for the Blue and Gold is nickelback Desia Dunn and cornerback Jeremy McGee are slated to return from injury.

As for the state of the squad, Burke, who was out of town for a few days attending his mother-in-law’s funeral, said veteran players’ jobs are on the line and the mental preparation must improve.
