WINNIPEG - Last week, Winnipeg head coach Tim Burke pleaded patience as his team is still developing.
After all, two other teams in the East were also struggling with 1-3 records. And yes, pointing that out is indeed pathetic enough.
But for the second straight week, the Calgary Stampeders gave every indication of completely out-coaching the Blue Bombers. Not just the offence, either. The defence, the special teams.
Yes, the Stamps are a veteran team that went to the Grey Cup last week but it was almost embarrassing how easy they made their 37-24 win look. Don't forget, they started their third string quarterback, Bo Levi Mitchell, while the Bombers had their second-stringer, Justin Goltz. Mitchell completely out-classed Goltz as both made their first starts.
Bombers management should immediately make a pitch for Mitchell, or Kevin Glenn (once he recovers from injury), or someone else. What they have behind centre just isn't working right now.
