WINNIPEG - I was standing in line at the bank Thursday and I couldn't help but overhear a conversation a couple of the other patrons were having with a teller.

It wasn't about mortgages or financing or even a savings account, although given the amount of money we have all invested in the subject, it may as well have been.

These good folks were talking about something near and dear to the hearts of many Winnipeggers, a football team that simply can't seem to get things right.

It struck me, as I heard these average citizens chatting with more than a hint of frustration in their voices, that I had heard what they were saying before. They were the kind of incredulous words you hear often when a team hasn't won a Grey Cup for more than 20 years.

But this seemed to go further than the usual "What's wrong with the Bombers?" or "How long is Buck Pierce out?"

These were fans who sounded like they've had enough, and to be sure, they're not alone.
