WINNIPEG - It’s Justin time for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Backup quarterback Justin Goltz will make his first career CFL start for the Bombers (1-3) on Friday night when they host the Calgary Stampeders (3-1). Starter Buck Pierce is out with an abdominal injury, but he will probably dress.

Goltz has thrown 29 career passes for the Bombers, with 15 of them coming in the second half of last Friday’s 35-19 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The 25-year-old Occidental College graduate is in his fourth season with the Bombers. He has one career touchdown pass and no interceptions.

Goltz might not be the only quarterback making his first career start on Friday night. Calgary third-stringer Bo Levi Mitchell has been taking most of the reps this week with Kevin Glenn resting a sore throwing elbow.

Pierce will miss the start for the 27th time due to injury since he signed with the Bombers 58 games ago.
